Local foster children experienced the “Gift of Giving” At annual holiday shopping event!

Over 100 local foster children shopped for Christmas gifts for those they love at the Naples Walmart Supercenter on Immokalee Road on December 9, 2017. This year marks the 18th annual Gift of Giving shopping spree sponsored by Bob Germain, Jr. and organized by Friends of Foster Children Forever (FFCF).

The excitement began early with each child checking their shopping list and finding gifts for family members and themselves. Making the day extra special were volunteers who helped the children pick out the perfect gifts and then wrap each one with care. Those serving as personal shopping helpers included FFCF board members, tutors, FFCF volunteers, Rotarians, and Guardian ad Litem members.

The store was filled with holiday cheer as the children shopped for everything from sports equipment to art supplies.

The Germain family of automotive dealerships has made the annual Gift of Giving event possible for the past 18 years. The financial gift allowed foster children between the ages of five and 18 to have $100 each to shop for those they love or that care for them.

The FFCF mission is to focus on the children they serve by providing targeted educational and enrichment opportunities that allow each child to fulfill his or her potential. The charitable organization works to fulfill the unmet needs of every child who enters, or is at risk of entering the foster care system in Collier, Hendry and Glades Counties.
