(September 9, 2013 – Naples, FL) McKenney Home Care proudly announces the formation of their Medical Advisory Board. The board was established to provide feedback and advice in key areas of care for their clients and includes four distinguished and highly recognized medical professionals.

 

Steven T. DeKosky, M.D., Vice President and Dean of the School of Medicine, University of Virginia Medical School is an international leader in the field of Alzheimer’s disease research. Dr. DeKosky has served in leadership roles for several National Institutes of Health research-related activities as well as the boards of directors of both the Alzheimer’s Association USA and Alzheimer’s Disease International. He has served on the editorial boards of six of the leading neurology and Alzheimer’s clinical publications and is a journal reviewer for another 20 clinical journals.

 

  • Stanley Marks, M.D., Chairman of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Cancer Center; Director of Clinical Services and Chief Medical Officer for UPMC Cancer Center/ University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute is the chief of the hematology/oncology division at UPMC Shadyside and the clinical professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine. He has served as President of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as President of the Allegheny County Medical Society. He has also served on the board of directors of the American Cancer Society, Allegheny County Medical Society, and is a co- founder of the local Juvenile Diabetes Foundation chapter. Marks is on the corporate board of Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and is a professional consultant in Hematology/Oncology for Medicare.

 

  • Camillo Ricordi, M.D., Stacy Joy Goodman Professor of Surgery, Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, and Microbiology and Immunology, and Scientific Director and Chief Academic Officer of the University of Miami (UM) Diabetes Research Institute. He serves the Cellular Transplantation Division Chief/Department of Surgery at the UM Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, Director of the Diabetes Research Institute Cell Transplant Center and Responsible Head of the cGMP Human Cell Processing Facility, an NIH funded cGMP facility that has been providing Human Cell Products for research and clinical applications at UM since 1993. Ricordi has also served as Co-Director of the Executive Office of Research Leadership and as Senior Associate Dean for Research at the Miller School of Medicine.

 

  • Mark Lawrence Zeidel, M.D., Herman Ludwig Blumgart Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Physician-in-Chief and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. Dr. Zeidel is known for his commitment to quality and was the first in the country to appoint a Vice Chair of Quality Improvement in a Department of Medicine.
