Ooh La La Jewels Du Jour announces Jo Ann Ward as first Legacy Lady

Ooh La La Jewels Du Jour is proud to announce Jo Ann Ward as the first Ooh La La Legacy Lady for the season.

This program was created to celebrate local women who leave a lasting legacy in the community. The new recognition program was designed by sisters and co-owners Amy Turner and Tammy Turner Kipp, as a result of the amazing outcome they had from their previous program last year, the Ooh La La Ladies. Six women have been chosen to represent the community this year and will be showcased January through June 2017.

January’s Ooh La La Legacy Lady, Jo Ann Ward, is the first vice-president of the Latchkey League Board of Directors. She helps raise funds for the under-served latchkey children of Collier County and is leaving a lasting legacy with her charitable work.

Ward is a graduate of University of Wisconsin and was recognized as a lifelong major event producer and image maker. Her career began in Chicago where she was Publicity and Special Events Director for billion dollar corporation Carson Pirie Scott & Company. She was inducted into The International Festival and Events Hall of Fame. Serving as a board member of the International Festivals and Events Association, she has been a popular speaker, from London to Disney World. Ward had her own Chicago-based marketing firm and in 1976, she served as Executive Director and CEO of the Fond du Lac Convention and Visitors Bureau in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Retiring to Naples in 2001, Ward served on the Naples Philharmonic League Board helping to produce a series of annual benefits to fund their youth music programs for Collier County children. She has been a member of the Pelican Bay Women’s League Board of Directors, member of Naples Pan-Hellenic Association, has served as an officer of Tri Delta Sorority Alumni Club and The Naples Press Club. Ward is a member of the Playhouse Partners of Gulfshore Playhouse and participates on a scholarship committee for the Collier County Community Foundation.

Ward also served on The United Way Board, State Street Council, Fashion Group Council, a Trustee of The First Presbyterian Church, Service League President, President’s Committee Marian College, Windhover Center for The Arts Advisory, Ambassador of The Association of Commerce, 21 year Rotarian and Paul Harris Scholar. She founded the Wisconsin Festival and Events Association; co-founded and was President of the Wisconsin Convention and Visitors Bureaus Association; and co-founded the Wisconsin Jazz Festival.

“We are so excited to launch this new program and recognize JoAnn for all of her accomplishments and service to our community,” says Turner. “She is truly leaving a legacy.”
