 icane Matthew\, the Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association’s (SRMA
 ’s) Manufacturing Day will bring South Fort Myers High School students t
 o Trilogy Laboratories\, 10060 Amberwood Road\, Suite 1 in Fort Myers at 9
  a.m. on Friday\, Jan. 20.\n\nThe high schoolers look forward to trading
  in their textbooks for a full immersion in the field of manufacturing as 
 they tour Trilogy Laboratories and shadow founder and skincare product inv
 entor Dr. Kristen Flaharty. As part of its STEM initiative\, the Lee Count
 y Public Schools partner with SRMA and its member companies for site visit
 s and experiential learning during the annual Manufacturing Day.\n\n&nbsp\
 ;\n\n“Our program will give students a first-hand look into the manufact
 uring sector and bridge the gap between what they learn in their studies i
 n order to test out cosmetic chemistry for themselves\,” explained Trilo
 gy Laboratories founder Dr. Kristen Flaharty.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFlaharty will
  pull from her experience as a former pharmacy professor and industry cons
 ultant to lead the students through their discoveries. She’ll highlight 
 manufacturing as a diverse industry with many products and career opportun
 ities represented. The students will learn about cosmetic chemistry and th
 e materials handling process from logging in ingredients\, testing them fo
 r characteristics like viscosity\, pH and the presence of microbes\, to pa
 ckaging\, labeling and batch coding. A lab activity will allow the student
 s to produce a custom lip balm\, measuring out ingredients\, melting wax\,
  stirring in colors and flavors and labeling their creation.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\
 nManufacturing Day is a national day to celebrate modern manufacturing tha
 t is meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. The purpose of
  SRMA is to bring together manufacturers to encourage the economic develop
 ment of Southwest Florida through manufacturing\, and to act as a forum fo
 r the expression and exchange of ideas and information among its members.\
