Blessings in a Backpack introduces Business Partnership Initiative

In Lee and Collier counties, 60,000 elementary students who receive free breakfast and lunch would struggle to get the nutrition they need over the weekend without Blessings in a Backpack of Southwest Florida. Now through the end of 2016, businesses can team up with the organization, which sends enough breakfast, lunch and snack foods home with more than 3,000 students on Friday afternoons to get them through to a productive, happy Monday morning.

With the Business Partner Initiative, companies can choose from four annual giving levels to receive various benefits while directly feeding local children. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Blessings in a Backpack offers a Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum sponsorship level to businesses as they finalize year-end giving plans. Ranging from $1,000 to more than $50,000, the Business Partner giving levels will directly feed from 10 to 500 children this school year. All Business Partners will enjoy online recognition with their company logo on the Blessings in Backpack SWFL website.

Silver or higher-level sponsors receive two to 20 tickets to the organization’s VIP Event, Baseball for Blessings, on March 11, 2017, for seats on the Sky Deck of Hammond Stadium when the Minnesota Twins take on the Boston Red Sox. Other benefits, per giving level, include the company’s logo on printed materials, choice of school or area where the contribution feeds local children, sponsor status for “Baseball for Blessings,” event banner and company shout-out at the VIP game.

Cecelia St. Arnold said, “The need is growing, with thousands of students waiting for our help. It only takes $100 to feed one child four meals every weekend for 38 weeks! Southwest Florida’s businesses have a unique opportunity to make an exponential impact as we try to feed an additional 1,000 children this year.”

Blessings in a Backpack helps prevent hunger

Blessings in a Backpack steps up where federal aid stops by feeding children on the weekend. Every Friday afternoon, children receive backpacks filled with kid-friendly, ready-to-eat items. Students return every Monday morning with an empty backpack, a full stomach and an eager mind. In partnership with the Lee and Collier County schools, we have helped dramatically improve test scores, reading skills, behavior and general health.

Kids are our future; you can help secure theirs. A $100 donation will feed a child for one full school year! Donations of all sizes are welcome through our donations portal at www.blessingsinswfl.org or via mail at P.O. Box 61402 Fort Myers, FL 33906. All contributions are tax-deductible.
