Avow Veterans Committee will honor Purple Heart veterans with a ceremony and lunch on Friday, Aug. 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Avow’s Dick Lee & Mary Martha Tonra Waterview Room in the Ispiri Community Center, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples. The lunch is sponsored by Lending to Heroes.

Aug. 7 is national Purple Heart Day, a day to pause and honor those who were wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate price for the nation’s freedom. Honorees will be recognized with a commemorative pin.
