Avow is hosting the complimentary lunch and learn, Living Your Best Life with a Serious or Chronic Illness Through Palliative Care, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Ispiri community center on the Avow Campus in Naples.

Attendees will hear from Avow Director of Medical Services Eileen Fagan Crowley as she discusses the benefits of non-hospice palliative care when seeking relief for serious or chronic illnesses. Learn about how palliative care differs in whole-person-centered care and how it can significantly improve one’s quality of life. Palliative care can also include psychological benefits for family members of those with a chronic or severe illness. Complimentary lunch is included; RSVPs are required.

Palliative care provides comfort for individuals living with serious illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, lung disease and kidney failure. The purpose of palliative care is to alleviate the physical symptoms and emotional distress related to diseases and/or medical treatments. Avow’s Palliative Care team can see patients in the outpatient clinic on Avow’s campus or wherever a patient calls home. Palliative care can be offered during treatments for illness and its purpose is to improve the patient’s quality of life during treatment.
