I’d like to start by saying that I hope you are doing well and in good health. My true desire is that your heart is open to receive the love in these words.
My intention is to bring a little spark and inspiration into your life and to help you see more clearly and understand that the power you desperately seek outside yourself lies within.
The following I will be sharing a few thoughts from my spiritual toolbox…
In my opinion, there is a difference between happiness and joy.
What is your definition of Joy? For me joy comes when you make peace with who you are and how you are. Regardless of what’s going on outside you.
Happiness tends to be externally triggered and is based on other people, things, thoughts and events.
You and I both have access to this power that comes from within. The key is found in gratitude. I would say that gratitude and joy hang together just like misery and company, right? They go hand and hand. One attracts the other. These are all energies.
Let’s do a little exercise…
Think of things that make you miserable for a moment and sit with it for a few seconds….
How does that make you feel? I’m pretty sure that many things came to mind probably quicker than you expected. On a side note: I bet misery was ready for your company without an invitation.
Now let’s shift to a better feeling energy by setting an Intention first.
Think of 5 things that you are grateful for right in this moment, don’t think too much about it; whatever comes to mind, no matter how insignificant you think it might be.
Keep going…As you keep thinking about things that you are grateful for more things are going to come into mind. Stay there for a little while. Only think of all the things that are going right for you at this very moment.
How does that make you feel? If you stay in gratitude for a little while you will begin to feel joyful. You might even begin to cry because you now realize that your power goes beyond outside circumstances; things might still be miserable on the outside but, now you are standing in your power. From that place is where you begin to exercise your true healing powers. In that place you can be vulnerable enough to finally open your heart to true forgiveness and compassion for yourself and others. Energies begin to change.
Now that your heart is expanded you can send love and healing to others. Don’t forget yourself. You are important too. It is from that place that you learn to let go and acknowledge the importance of setting healthy boundaries and because you are topped into your power, self- respect shows up into your reality too.
Now you can get clear about what you want and what you need to do to make better decisions in your best interest and everyone else involved. You my dear have finally moved beyond the limitations of all the temporary people, thoughts, things and events.
Question yourself every time you start to feel crappy. You have the power to change how you feel by changing your thoughts. Remember Dorothy from the wizard of oz? She was trapped in her own mind looking for answers outside herself not realizing that she had all the power within. She went through all the troubles only to find out that she was the only one that can bring herself back home. What a journey she had!
This is all about practicing. Keep doing it and you will begin to see the difference. Remember to be patient with yourself as this is a process.
