Biography The Lee Building Industry Association (BIA), a not-for-profit professional Association representing Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties, is a powerful voice for the building industry in the regulatory arena. Membership in the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is automatic upon joining the Lee BIA. These combined memberships provide our members a seamless, constant flow of information – from the state and national levels, as well as all the benefits from the many networking opportunities and various events happening within the Lee BIA. Biography The Florida Constitution established the Clerk of the Circuit Court as a public trustee responsible for safeguarding public records and public funds. Clerk Kevin Karnes is directly elected by and accountable to Lee County residents. In addition to the role of Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Clerk is the County Recorder Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners and the Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Auditor for Lee County. Clerk of the Circuit Court The Clerk’s primary function is to safeguard the integrity of all court records. The Clerk processes and makes available to the public all case documents, such as civil lawsuits, traffic tickets, and criminal cases. The Clerk is also responsible for managing jurors, maintaining case evidence, processing bail, and submitting appeals to state appellate courts. County Recorder The Clerk records, processes, and maintains all Official Records of Lee County dating back to 1887, when the county was founded. Mortgages, deeds, wills, marriage licenses, and liens are some of the many public records made available online. Citizens can also apply for their U.S. passport at the Clerk’s office. Biography LifeWise Academy is a Released Time Religious Instruction (RTRI) program which provides Bible-based character education to public school students. Under RTRI laws, students can be released from public school during the school day to attend religious classes, provided the program is off school property, privately funded and parent-permitted. LifeWise was founded in 2018 to be a plug-and-play program for local communities across the nation to bring Bible education to public school students during school hours.
