Better Together raises $16,275 at The World Famous Cigar Bar Charity Golf Tournament

Better Together, a nonprofit dedicated to families and children, raised $16,275 from The World Famous Cigar Bar Charity Golf Tournament, which took place on Oct. 27 at Stoneybrook Golf Club in Estero.

The funds raised from the tournament will directly benefit Better Together’s mission to build strong families and communities, ultimately keeping children out of foster care.

After completing 18 holes of golf and lunch, golfers enjoyed an after-party at The World Famous Cigar Bar featuring a silent auction, premium imported cigars, spirits and a catered dinner. Among the tournament’s participants were long-time supporters of Better Together, Better Together host families and new allies to the nonprofit’s mission.

“We are so grateful for everyone who helped make this fundraiser possible, and for every golfer who took a swing to help families through Better Together,” said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. “Together, we are empowering families with the hope, resources and stability they need to build brighter futures.”

The team that took first place in this year’s tournament included Kevin Casebolt, Kai Casebolt, Aaron Light and Don Light. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office team came in second place with players Christian Gempsaw, Jesse Green, Eddie Strazerri and Thomas Wedlock. Finally, the third-place team included Todd Baker, John Clark, Jeff Perbix and Bobby Sarver.

Event sponsors included Baker Petroleum & Investments, Boveda Inc., Coolair Air Conditioning & Heating, La Palina Cigars, Realty ONE Group MVP, Simplified Technologies Inc. and Stoneybrook Golf Club.

Better Together helps parents who are going through a hard time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. Established in Southwest Florida in 2015, the nonprofit’s programming has rapidly expanded to reach families in six regions of Florida, which span 48 counties. To date, the program has served 10,000 children and kept 98% of children served through mentoring and hosting out of foster care, while helping nearly 40,000 job seekers find employment through church-based job fairs across 24 states.
