Cre8 stylists Walk to Defeat ALS on behalf of longtime client
Once again, Cre8 Salon & Spa will rally behind long-time client Hilde Heard, with several team members joining about 200 participants at the Fort Myers Walk to Defeat ALS at Miromar Outlets in Estero on Saturday, Nov. 5.
Hilde Heard is a 20-year client of stylist Marcy Sagorac, who owns Cre8 Salon & Spa with husband Jeff. Hilde was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2007, just four years after retiring as an oncology nurse.
Sagorac said, “Hilde has already defied the odds, as most patients can expect to live only two to five years after diagnosis. She credits her perseverance to a stubborn streak. All of us here at Cre8 consider her an inspiration.”
In 2011, Hilde inspired Cre8 to make history as it broke the Guinness World Record for the greatest number of consecutive haircuts given by a team in eight hours. The salon held the event as a fundraiser in Hilde’s name and donated $5,000 to the ALS Association Florida Chapter, which presents the Walk to Defeat ALS.
In addition to a cash sponsorship, Cre8 will join the Hilde’s Herd team at the Walk to Defeat ALS. In advance of the walk, the salon will accept donations in the team’s name. With a $5 donation, salon visitors will receive a commemorative “Stampede for the Cure” cowbell and are invited to join the herd on Nov. 5. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that kills motor neurons, robbing a person of the ability to walk, talk, eat and eventually, breathe. The ALS Association Florida Chapter provides services and programs at no cost to patients, advocates on behalf of patients with government leaders, creates awareness and fund cutting-edge research. The chapter also provides financial support for statewide ALS clinics and research facilities.
