Dawn Maselli graduates from Florida Bar Leadership Academy

Dawn Maselli, an attorney with Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner, Attorneys for the Injured, has graduated from the Florida Bar Association’s Wm. Reece Smith Leadership Academy. Maselli was one of only thirty statewide applicants accepted into the intensive and specialized training. Her Leadership Academy training began in June 2019 and was just recently completed.

The Leadership Academy is a multi-session training program designed to help a diverse group of lawyers grow as leaders. Each year a select group of participants is chosen to become Academy Fellows from applications submitted to The Florida Bar. Applicants are selected based on their history of leadership and involvement within the Florida Bar, their community, and their firm.

“It was an honor to be selected to the Academy. I applied because I wanted to be equipped to pursue greater opportunities within the legal community. I also wanted to expand and develop leadership and collaboration skills to serve my clients and my community better,” said Maselli. “Additionally, we had the opportunity to visit with many of our state legislators and learn more about the inner workings of Florida’s judicial and representative process.”

During their one-year term, Academy Fellows follow a curriculum tailored to enhance their professional development, knowledge base, and experience. Academy Fellows are given the opportunity to learn more about the Bar and its role in the legal profession while enhancing their leadership skills.

“One of the most beneficial results of the Leadership Academy was an improved ability to communicate with others. I’m an extroverted, animated person. I needed to understand how others interpret my personality and communications,” explained Maselli. “I learned to look at communications from different perspectives – from those of the receiver. I am now much more aware of how my communications are sent and received and modify these based on the person with whom I’m talking.”

Maselli has filled several leadership positions within the community, having served as president of the Lee County Association of Women Lawyers, as secretary of the Lee County Injury Prevention Coalition, as a planning committee member of the Lee County Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida and is involved with Mothers Against Drunk Driving Southwest Florida.

Maselli graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida Gulf Coast University with a degree in Legal Studies in 2009, and from the Ave Maria School of Law in Naples in 2012. A valued member of the firm, Maselli joined Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner while attending FGCU in 2007 and continued working through law school to the present day.

A Sarasota native, Maselli has lived in the Fort Myers area since 2007. She and her husband are the proud parents of two French Bulldogs.
