Day Adjusting and Consulting helps fund VFW Auxiliary’s “Mission: Operation Christmas Cards for Veterans”
Blake Day, owner and president of Day Adjusting and Consulting, along with VP Jordan Stynda, presented a $1,000 check to the VFW Auxiliary Post 7721 in support of their holiday project Mission: Operation Christmas Cards for Veterans.
The project was adopted by VFW Auxiliary members in memory of the late Renee Whisner who was a member of the VFW. Renee Whisner, a Veteran of the US Air Force who became a quadriplegic in 2014, made it her mission to send holiday cards containing personal notes to fellow Veterans after spending a year herself at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa.
In 2021, 5,000 Christmas cards were sent; year two, 7,000 and her last year, she sent 11,000. Before her passing on Christmas Day of 2023, she made her mother promise to carry on her mission and to increase the numbers each year. Her mother, Mimi Treadway, is doing just that and arranged for VFW Auxiliary to adopt the project and to increase the goal. This year 15,000 cards will be mailed to Veterans in VA hospitals and nursing homes in Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and possibly one or two more states as funds allow.
“It is our privilege to fund the mailing expenses for this project,” said Day. “One of the best things about owning my own business is that I can give and donate to worthwhile projects like this one. Jordan and I along with our team love our community and our Veterans. We want to do what we can to make these types of projects happen.”
