Emmanuel Community Park joined CCSO to create a “Kids Love Fishing” event for local children

(Naples/Golden Gate Estates, FL – August 5, 2020) Emmanuel Community Park was the site of a “Kids Love Fishing” event in July at the park’s freshwater lake. Rev. Will Kittinger, Associate Pastor at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Naples, along with Deacon Dee Schleutker, worked in partnership with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) to bring the event to children in the community who live near the park.
Emmanuel Community Park, located at 2770 Oil Well Road near Naples, has offered several community driven events this past year including drive-through ashes and prayer on Ash Wednesday; a drive-through farmers market; drive-in church services; and recently, hosted 50 community children and their families together with local CCSO Deputies.
According to Pastor Will, it was a morning of fun and fishing with great weather and — the fish were biting. Safety measures for social distancing were practiced in every aspect of the outdoor event. The park’s new playground was also available for children who were not participating in the fishing event. The day also included a game of kickball for all to enjoy.
“We are grateful to the CCSO for sponsoring this event and look forward to partnering with them to bring more activities to the park in the near future,” said Schleutker. “We want the park to be a big part of the local community and utilized as much as possible.”
