Gulfshore Opera offers more than opera with touring cabaret Tribute to Louis Armstrong

Gulfshore Opera brings a wide variety vocal music concerts to Southwest Florida. Take, for instance, their popular GO Cabaret with Jazz Trio tour . This informal evening of popular songs with jazz piano trio accompaniment, creates a casual cabaret social atmosphere with wine and cheese offered before and during intermission.
This season’s cabaret, A Tribute to Louis Armstrong brings you great tunes like, When the Saints go Marchin’ in, What a Wonderful World and Hello Dolly. Bass baritone, Neil Nelson will interpret these songs while trumpet master, Randy Sandke take the instrumental solos. Soprano artists in residence, Chelsea Lehnea will interpret songs of Ella Fitzgerald and tenor, Peter Lake adds some Frank Sinatra tunes. Featured guest Trumpet master Randy Sandke joins the ensemble. Mr. Sandke is a widely recognized expert in the trumpet style made famous by Louis Armstrong. He recently moved to Southwest Florida but has performed at festivals, clubs, and concerts around the world. Randy has toured Europe over forty times performing with Benny Goodman, Dick Hyman, Ray Anderson, Sweets Edison, Flip Phillips, Scott Hamilton, and Mel Lewis. Singers he collaborates with include Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney, Cab Calloway, Art Garfunkel, Diane Reeves, Sting, Elton John, Billy Joel, Chaka Khan, Bette Midler, and James Taylor.
Jazz composer and pianist Tony Viviano leads the jazz trio which includes FGCU Professor of Jazz Studies Brandon Robertson, fresh off his album release “Bass’d on a True Story,” and drummer Rick Costa.
Gulfshore Opera is dedicated to bringing high quality artists to Southwest Florida for its productions. The GO Professional Artists in Residence for season 6, all with New York managers, bring a wealth of experience and talent to Southwest Florida. These artists along with featured guests artists will perform in the company’s grand opera production of La Bohème March 13th at Charlotte Performing Arts Center and March 18th which marks the Gulfshore Opera debut at the Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall.
