Florida’s Heart of Florida Youth Ranch Celebrates 10 Years of Transformative Leadership Under Dr. John Sweet
Citra, Florida – The Heart of Florida Youth Ranch is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Dr. John Sweet as Director. Since 2014, Dr. Sweet has been instrumental in transforming the Ranch into a haven for at-risk children. Under his visionary leadership, the Ranch has seen significant growth and development, positioning itself as a crucial resource for children in need.
When Dr. Sweet took the helm, with his late wife Jo Ann, in 2014, the Ranch was home to nine children. Today, the Ranch serves an average of 35 children, reflecting its expanding capacity and the growing trust in its programs. Over the past decade, the residential program has evolved to focus on children who have been traRicked and those at high risk of traRicking, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment.
A cornerstone of the Ranch’s success is its robust clinical department, staRed with licensed Christian therapists dedicated to addressing the emotional and psychological needs of the children. This comprehensive approach ensures that each child receives the support and care necessary for healing and growth.
Integral to the Ranch’s therapeutic oRerings is the Unbridled Hope equine program. This innovative initiative uses horsemanship to teach life and social skills, helping children build confidence and emotional resilience. The program has become a beloved and essential part of the Ranch’s holistic approach to healing.
In line with its commitment to continuous improvement and expansion, the Ranch is excited to announce the opening of an on-campus school, Horizon of Hope Academy, this year. This new educational facility is designed to meet the unique needs of the children, providing a tailored learning environment that supports their academic and personal development.
“I have been blessed by an incredible team of people past and present who have made contributions and sacrifices that made it all possible. I want to thank my wife Alice who has joined the adventure,” Dr. Sweet comments. In celebration of his ten years of impactful leadership, Dr. John and Alice are releasing their new book, Ascending to Your Dreams – Dare to Dream. This work encapsulates their vision and dedication to helping children overcome adversity and achieve their fullest potential.
