Lee County Bar Association’s Magazine Earns FPRA Award of Distinction

The Lee County Bar Association (LCBA) is proud to announce its official publication, Res Gestae, was recently awarded the prestigious Award of Distinction from the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Southwest Florida Chapter during its 2014 Local Image Awards event. Local Image Awards winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design in Southwest Florida. Entries are evaluated by FPRA judging committees from others chapters in the interest of impartiality; FPRA Space Coast and FPRA Volusia/Flagler chapters judged the 2014 entries from the Southwest Florida chapter.

Res Gestae is published in cooperation with Fort Myers-based CONRIC PR & Marketing | Publishing, which began producing the monthly magazine in November 2010. CONRIC undertook a complete redesign of the publication, which at that time had been a copied and stapled newsletter that represented an expense, and turned it into a glossy full-color magazine that became a revenue generator. The publication was honored with the Award of Distinction for excellence in promoting LCBA members, informing and educating members, improving the professional image of the organization and attorneys, and generating a new source of revenue for the services the LCBA provides its members.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the work done by the CONRIC PR & Marketing | Publishing team,” said LCBA Executive Director Nanci DuBois. “Through their astute, timely and creative articles and design, our legal news magazine for Lee County Bar Association has grown from a little in-house black-and-white publication into a sophisticated, educational and well-read full color tome.”

Along with layout, design and editorial content, budget is strongly considered by the judges. The annual goal set by the LCBA and CONRIC in 2013 was $120,000 in gross advertising revenue, with a $30,000 net profit for the LCBA. That goal was exceeded by 77%, with total gross advertising sales revenue in 2013 coming in at $155,910.75, and the total net profit 66% over goal at $49,533.50.
DuBois said, “As a resource for our advertisers to reach our membership, Res Gestae finds its way into the hands of more people than ever before.”

Res Gestae contains informative features; guest columns; an institutional calendar of events, including Continuing Legal Education opportunities, practice section events , social gatherings and fundraisers; community service organization coverage; social scene photos; LCBA announcements; a dining out column and more. It reaches an estimated readership of 3,000, including the entire LCBA membership, to whom it is mailed as a benefit.
