Literacy Council Gulf Coast celebrated National Family Literacy Day
BONITA SPRINGS, FLA. — Nov. 18, 2025 — In honor of National Family Literacy Month, The Literacy Council Gulf Coast (LCGC) welcomed families, friends and neighbors for a day filled with local nonprofits, activities and opportunities for learning and community connection on Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 26820 Old 41 Rd., Bonita Springs, FL.
This year’s theme, “One Community, One Story,” highlighted the power of stories to connect generations, strengthen families and build brighter futures. The event featured food, giveaways, and community resources—all in one place for an engaging and memorable experience.
LCGC raffled off 15 bikes, and gave away 150 bike helmets, bike locks and lights. The Friends of BERT (Bonita Estero Rail Trail) donated the bike helmets, while the Trust for Public Land provided the bike locks and lights.
“This event kicked off what is shaping up to be our most dynamic year yet,” said Dr. Leah Mason, executive director of Literacy Council Gulf Coast. “We are gearing up for an impactful year, with new learning opportunities, refreshed programs, growing community partnerships and bold events that will bring our mission to life.”
Literacy Day served as a reminder that literacy changes lives. By attending, community members helped write a shared story of learning, growth and possibility for Southwest Florida.
