Local foster children enjoyed the “Gift of Giving” at annual holiday shopping event!

Over 160 local foster children shopped for Christmas gifts for their loved ones on December 8th at the annual Gift of Giving organized by Friends of Foster Children Forever (FFCF). The shopping event took place again this year at Naples Walmart Supercenter on Immokalee Road and was sponsored by Robert Germain Jr., Steve Germain and Rick Germain.

Children arrived early and started checking their shopping lists that were filled with names of family members and loved ones. Making the day extra special were volunteers who helped the children pick out the perfect gifts and then helped wrap each one with care. Individuals serving as personal shopping helpers included FFCF board members, tutors, FFCF volunteers, Rotarians, and Guardian ad Litem members.

The store was filled with holiday cheer as the children shopped for everything from toys to electronics.

The Germain family has made the annual Gift of Giving event possible for the past 19 years. The financial gift allowed foster children between the ages of five and 18 to have $100 each to shop for those they love or that care for them. Each child was also allowed to buy one gift for themselves to enjoy.

The FFCF mission is to focus on the children they serve by providing targeted educational and enrichment opportunities that allow each child to fulfill his or her potential. The charitable organization works to fulfill the unmet needs of every child who enters or, is at risk of entering the foster care system in Collier, Hendry and Glades Counties.
