Naples Hugs Ukulele Concert Honors Vietnam Veterans on National Vietnam War Veterans Day
Featuring Renowned Ukulele Artists, Performing March 29th at the Norris Center

NAPLES, Fla.- (February 28, 2025)- In honor of National Vietnam War Veterans Day on Saturday, March 29, the highly anticipated second annual Hugs (Happy Ukulele Group of Strummers) Ukulele Concert at Norris Center will be kicked off at 7 P.M. with a special musical medley of the familiar hits heard by all troops serving in- country from 1963-1970. The Concert itself will be headlined by Ukulele legend Jim Beloff performing with the acclaimed father- daughter duo Steve and Amanda Boisen- The Barnkickers. Well known string performers Tom Hood and Jay Nunes will perform the commemorative medley. As a special treat the evening will end with a special performance by Jim Beloff with the Mason Classical Academy. A VIP Champagne reception from 5:30 P.M. will precede the Concert.

Jim Beloff was designated a Ukulele Legend by Ukulele Magazine and is credited with sparking the third revolution of the Ukulele this century in 1992 through his creation of the Jumpin’ Jim series of ukulele songbooks and the Daily Ukulele-the Ukulele players bible. With over one million copies in circulation these publications have become the cornerstone of the ever-expanding ukulele community. This appearance by Beloff is made even more special by the fact that although performing in hundreds of locations worldwide over the past thirty years, the March 29th appearance at Norris Center marks his first visit to Naples.

“I’ve heard so many great things about the Naples Music and Arts scene, so I was thrilled to get an invite from the Hugs people to teach a workshop in the afternoon at the festival and headline the Concert in the evening. That I can do my part to honor our Viet Nam era vets makes this concert even more special for me as well as the Boisens.” stated Beloff.

There will be free lessons open to the public from 4-5 PM at the Norris Center with Ukuleles provided, and a VIP champagne reception at 5:30 P.M. for selected ticketholders. Funds raised from the evening’s appeals will benefit the Veteran programs at the Baker Senior Center Naples.
