Navigating storm season: Leadership NEXT to spotlight what business and property owners need to know on May 10

Leadership NEXT, a monthly program for advancing business professionals, will host a networking program on Tuesday, May 10, that will spotlight what business and property owners need to know to protect their properties during storm season.

The program will be hosted from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Library Pizza & Pub, located at 9909 Gulf Coast Main St. in Fort Myers.

Leadership NEXT attendees will hear from a guest panel of experts representing roofing, insurance, law and disaster services, including Mike Egan, owner and founder of Global Roofing and Contracting; Richard Purtz, attorney and managing partner for Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice & Purtz, P.A.; Scott Jackson, public claims adjuster for Ask An Adjuster; and Phil Thompson, founding partner and agent for The Thompson Agency. The panel will be moderated by meteorologist Jason Dunning.

With recent heavy storms across Southwest Florida and in preparation for the start of hurricane season on June 1, speakers will cover need-to-know information for property owners, including steps that should be taken before and after a storm, navigating property damage insurance claims and important legal considerations. Attendees will also receive informational materials to prepare for the 2022 storm season.

Attendees of Leadership NEXT represent a variety of businesses and industries throughout Southwest Florida. Sessions take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month and offer opportunities to develop new knowledge and skills, establish working relationships with colleagues and engage in valuable programs and discussions to further enhance their careers. Leadership NEXT’s annual sponsor is the Florida Gulf Coast University Alumni Association.

The nonprofit spotlight for the event is the South Florida Region of the American Red Cross, which prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by providing shelter, food, clothing and emotional support at no cost to those in need. The South Florida Region serves a population of nearly 8 million people across 13 counties.

Admission for the Leadership NEXT program is $10 for Chamber members and $20 for future members, and includes a complimentary beverage and a sampling of The Library’s new menu.

Attendees can register at FortMyers.org or call 239-332-2930.
