Nor-Tech signs as major sponsor for Roar Offshore Powerboat Races

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2022) – Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats is proud to be a major sponsor of the 2022 Roar Offshore Powerboat Races. The World Class sanctioned powerboat event and largest competitive race on water is coming to Fort Myers Beach Oct. 6 – 8. Roar Offshore represents the Offshore Powerboat Associations National Championship with one of the largest power boat racing prize purses in the country. Funds raised at the event will help provide local scholarships and support Breast Cancer awareness, all while bringing millions in revenue to the local economy.

“Nor-Tech is passionate about the boating industry and is always looking for ways to make a difference in the community. What better way than a free, family-friendly world-famous boat race in our own backyard!” said Trond Schou, Co-Founder & CEO of Nor-Tech Boats. “Tim and Cyndee Hill do a phenomenal job of putting this event together each year and we are grateful for the partnership we have with them and for the opportunity to raise money for local charities. It’s also a great way to network help further the marine industry while boosting the local economy. We get to expand our reach while exposing Southwest Florida and all it has to offer to the people from around the globe.”

Roar Offshore are the producers of the APBA Offshore National Championship races attracting over 70 of the largest race teams from around the world, including Australia, Dubai, Italy, and New Zealand. It brings additional exposure and recognition to the boating, recreational, and entertainment opportunities that Fort Myers Beach and Lee County have to offer while increasing tourism and community involvement during a traditionally slower period of the year.

Roar Offshore is entirely sponsored by businesses, like Nor-Tech, and individuals that have a vision for powerboat racing on Fort Myers Beach and wish to improve the local area economy by bringing in tourism dollars. The three-day event typically sees 60 – 70,000 spectators on land and water, and in 2021, had a direct economic impact of $19.7 M.

“The races feature some of the world’s top performance boats reaching speeds in excess of 180 miles per hour,” said event organizer Tim Hill. “Fort Myers Beach is the perfect location to watch the race. It’s the closest you can get to the boats while also enjoying the beautiful beaches, live entertainment, and great food.”

Nor-Tech, leading the way in innovative custom boat manufacturing and design since 1991, will supply the pace boat for the race, a 39′ 390 Sport with quad 450R 1800 Horsepower Mercury Racing engines. They will also have a boat in the parade which kicks off the weekend of events on Thursday, Oct. 6, followed by the Roar Offshore Street Party. In addition to the races and venues on Fort Myers Beach, enjoy pool parties, barbeques, meet and greets, and more! A full schedule of events can be found at roaroffshore.com/schedule.

About Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats

A Legacy of Excellence- When they were first running around boatyards in Norway as youngsters in the 1970s, Trond Schou and Nils Johnsen weren’t thinking about their legacy. They were thinking about — and obsessed with — sports cars and boats. That still holds true today, just on a much grander scale. Thirty years ago, the first Nor-Tech powerboat hit the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida with exceptional craftsmanship, speed, and style like no other. Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats had two employees — Trond and Nils. “If there’s a boat we can dream up, why not build it?” says Nils, Nor-Tech’s chief designer who is often inspired by his cherry red Lamborghini Countach. “If we can build it, we will.” The co-founders can still be found on the production room floor working on boats and designs in one of their four Southwest Florida facilities just as much as they can be found in their offices, handling the day-to-day operations.
