Ross shoppers can fund ‘Power Hour’ at Boys & Girls Clubs

Seven Ross Dress for Less stores in Southwest Florida are partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County for a three-week “Help Local Kids Thrive” initiative.

From Feb. 10 through March 3, Ross customers can make monetary contributions at checkout to support Power Hour, which offers homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities that encourage members to become self-directed learners. Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County operates six After-school Programs at community, neighborhood and school-based clubs that serve members ages 6 to 18.

“Ross has been an incredible partner of Boys & Girls Clubs for many years, and this initiative is an easy way for community members to support their local clubs,” said Denise Gergley, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County. “Our clubs have become an extension of the school day, and Power Hour is an opportunity for our dedicated youth development professionals to work with club members who need extra assistance in reading, math and other subject areas.”

The After-school Program at Boys & Girls Clubs focuses on five core areas: education and career, service and leadership, health and wellness, the arts, and sports and recreation. The nonprofit’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

Donations at six Ross stores in Lee County and one Ross store in Collier County will support Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County:

This year is Ross’ 10th annual campaign to support Boys & Girls Clubs. Together with its customers, Ross has raised and donated more than $46 million to support clubs nationally.

“The funds raised will directly help kids at clubs nationwide by supporting Power Hour, a homework tutoring program, nationally sponsored by Ross,” said Matt Young, group senior vice president for Ross Stores. “We are proud of our strong, longstanding partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs and look forward to coming together with our customers and associates to ‘Help Local Kids Thrive.’”
