Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast announces Dr. Ben Carson as keynote speaker for May 5, 2022, event

The Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast will host its annual event on Thursday, May 5, 2022, featuring world-renowned speaker Dr. Ben Carson for the keynote address.

Held in observance of the National Day of Prayer, the 2022 Community Prayer Breakfast will take place at 6 a.m. on Thursday, May 5 at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers. While the event is free and open to the public, tickets are required and available on a first come, first served basis at CommunityPrayerBreakfast.com.

“In his keynote address, Dr. Carson will share his personal story and faith journey, drawing from recent national and global events,” said Ron Inge, president, Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast, Inc. “We are thrilled to bring a speaker of his caliber to our community.”

Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon and former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development official and presidential candidate, is now founder and chairman of the American Cornerstone Institute, a new think tank whose mission is to promote the four founding principles which are cornerstones of our country: faith, liberty, community and life, as well as to pursue common sense solutions that challenge conventional groupthink.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance on the first Thursday of May when individuals of all faiths join in unified prayer for continued blessings on the nation. Every year, local, state and federal observances are held between sunrise to sunset across the nation and attract more than 2 million people. Except for 2021, when the event was not held due to the pandemic, the Fort Myers community has been honoring the National Day of Prayer since the Community Prayer Breakfast’s inception in 1988.

To ensure the popular annual prayer breakfast continues, a corporation, Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast Inc., has been established to organize the annual event. The organization is led by board members John Noland, Carl Barraco, Gary Trippe and Ron Inge.

Local businesses and organizations annually step in to support the event through sponsorships and donations. Sponsorships are still available for the 2022 event. For more information, please email SWFLCommunityPrayerBreakfast@gmail.com or call 239-744-7769.
