Southwest Florida Housing Foundation, Curran Young Construction to host hiring events July 23 and 28

Southwest Florida Housing Foundation, the nonprofit development arm of The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers, is partnering with Curran Young Construction to host two construction-industry hiring events on Thursday, July 23 and Tuesday, July 28. Both events will take place from 5 to 7 p.m., giving local job seekers the opportunity to meet hiring employers in-person and apply for open positions.

Designed for local residents and low-income residents (residents receiving HUD or similar affordable housing assistance) who are interested in pursuing careers in the construction industry, the hiring events will feature employers seeking skilled and entry level workers for current and future positions related to the construction of The Arwyn, a new affordable housing community being developed by the Housing Authority and its partners. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet employers directly, learn about open positions and career pathways in the skilled trades and take the next step toward employment close to home.

Participating employers include some of Curran Young Construction’s construction trade subcontractors for this project, including companies that provide the following services: concrete, roofing, painting, ceiling installation, landscaping, erosion control, insulation, flooring, cleaning services, fencing, HVAC, plumbing and more.

“Together, with these community partners, we believe that when we invest in hiring local, we strengthen the communities we serve,” said Marcia Davis, executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers. “When residents can take part in creating affordable housing, we create opportunities for meaningful contribution while building projects the entire community can take pride in.”

The Arwyn is a planned 230-unit affordable family housing community located at 5360 Summerlin Road in Fort Myers. Featuring a wide range of amenities, including a 4,396-square-foot clubhouse, community gardens, covered pavilions with grilling areas, a spacious dog park and in-unit washers and dryers, the community is designed to support connection, convenience and everyday quality of life. The project is being completed in partnership with Tre Bel Housing, Procida Development Group and Curran Young Construction, and is slated for completion in late 2027.

Job seekers interested in attending the hiring events must RSVP via an online form by July 20. The events will take place at Pine Manor Community Center, located at 5547 10th Ave. in Fort Myers. Complimentary food and refreshments will be provided.
