Sunshine Ace Hardware’s ‘Back-to-School Round Up’ raises $3,546 for Guadalupe Center
Sunshine Ace Hardware helped raise $3,546 through its Back-to-School Round Up. This donation will help purchase new school supplies and classroom materials for students attending Guadalupe Center in Immokalee.
During a two-week period in July, customers at Sunshine Ace retail stores in Collier and Lee counties were able to round up their purchases at the register, donating their change to support Guadalupe Center, which offers educational programs for more than 1,750 students annually. Additionally, Sunshine Ace Hardware contributed with a donation and store employees donated a large supply of back-to-school supplies as well.
“Our ‘Round Up’ collections have become a great way to support local nonprofits, and the terrific response to our Back-to-School Round Up helps ensure that students who aren’t quite as fortunate will have the materials needed to achieve success,” said Michael Wynn, president of Sunshine Ace Hardware. “It might just be a nickel, dime or quarter, but our collective donations can truly make a difference in the lives of students.”
Guadalupe Center’s annual Back-to-School Shoes & Supplies Drive outfits hundreds of students with new sneakers and school supplies like markers, writing utensils, notebooks, folders, art supplies, glue sticks, flash drives, headphones and more.
“Receiving new shoes and supplies for school meets our students’ essential needs, but it means so much more to their self-esteem,” said Dawn Montecalvo, president of Guadalupe Center. “Beginning the school year prepared gives students the boost of confidence they need to return for another year of courageous learning. The gifts from Sunshine Ace and its generous customers help our students focus on what matters most this coming school year – their educational development!”
Sunshine Ace Hardware supports numerous charitable causes, many of which focus on youth and education. Children’s Miracle Network is the company’s primary charitable partner, a relationship that has generated $176,000 in donations over the past two years to support life-saving pediatric care. Proceeds from the annual Sunshine Ace Hardware Big Green EGGfest event support youth-oriented organizations, including 4H, Kiwanis, Rotary, the Immokalee Foundation and Youth Leadership Collier, and the company’s sponsorship of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Business Fair allow students to sell their products inside Sunshine Ace stores.
