The Founders Fund welcomes Olga Placeres as a new board member

The Founders Fund Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Olga Placeres has joined their current 2019 board.

Placeres is active in the community volunteering her time and talents to many causes. She is the CFO and Agency Manager at Preferred Travel of Naples and has been with the company for 30 years.

“I’m excited to have this opportunity to be an integral part of this wonderful organization,” says Placeres. “I’m very passionate about this organization and its mission to help support underprivileged children who otherwise would not be able to afford a higher education.”

The Founders Fund is a local 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1991 by members of Club Pelican Bay. The organization provides scholarships to students from Collier County in their pursuit of a higher education.

Each spring, The Founders Fund selects approximately 25 to 35 graduating students from Collier County High Schools to receive scholarships based on their academic success and financial need. The $10,000 scholarships are awarded $2,500 per year as a renewable scholarship based on the student maintaining a B average. Currently, the Fund has 102 students receiving annual scholarships. Since its inception, The Founders Fund has granted over $3.9 million dollars in scholarships to over 680 Collier County students and has a scholarship commitment of over $250,000 annually.
