The Founders Scholarship Fund 2023 Donor Appreciation Reception

The Founders Scholarship Fund (FSF) Board of Directors held an appreciation reception at Club Pelican Bay on January 18 to honor their donors who contribute to the mission of the non-profit organization.

Since its inception in 1991, the Founders Scholarship Fund has stayed true to its mission and awards renewable scholarships to local students who have shown determination, academic achievements, and financial need to pursue a college education. To date, the FSF has awarded over $6 million in scholarships to more than 800 Collier County students.

The local 501 (c)3 non-profit organization was founded by golf members of Club Pelican Bay to assist staff members and their families with educational expenses. Shortly thereafter, board members recognized the need to open the application process to other Collier County high school seniors.

Appreciating the history of the FSF and the dedication of donors, Pat Chadwick, FSF Board of Directors Chair, formally thanked everyone during her opening remarks and then introduced several scholarship recipients who were in attendance for the reception.

Scholar and scholarship recipient Donna Taylor said, “The day I was awarded my scholarship was the best day of my life,” and scholar Dan Zhao told members, “You invested in my future, but also in our entire society and the next generation.” Both students spoke about their scholastic achievements and career aspirations.

Ms. Chadwick informed donors of recent updates in the online technology that will improve the scholarship application process and the ability to track student progress. She also spoke of the success of the FSF mentor relationships between Board members and scholarship recipients.
