Preferred Travel of Naples helps local students dress for success
Preferred Travel of Naples (PTN) recently donated polo shirts to 60 Palmetto Ridge High School (PRHS) students in the Cambridge AICE Travel and Tourism course.
Kristina Gear, Managing Director of Preferred Travel of Naples, visited the Palmetto Ridge High School travel class and handed the shirts out to each student. Students will wear the Preferred Travel logoed polo shirts while representing their travel and tourism program as they are out and about in the community.
Students in the college level class at PRHS can earn up to six college credits by successfully completing the course. The class focuses on the travel and tourism industry including the fundamentals of the industry, customer service, destination marketing, and destination management.
As part of the course, students must plan, organize and execute a trip to a selected destination. This requires them to interact with the community to plan and lead the trip.
“The donation by Preferred Travel of Naples will help students understand the concept of community involvement and the role businesses play in supporting community programs,” says Bob Topping, Palmetto Ridge High School program teacher. “The polo shirts will help provide the image each student needs to be perceived as a business professional.”
Annually, Gear and PTN Travel Advisor Kimberly Coplon, give a presentation to the class to discuss how a travel agency works and what a career as a travel advisor entails. Preferred Travel has also offered intern opportunities to the students.
