Haven of Hope International Spearheads Global Effort to Revolutionize Orphan Care

Haven of Hope International (HOHI) leadership continues to take decisive action to address the
global orphan crisis as it pursues its mission to set a new standard of orphan care worldwide.
Leadership will attend two major conferences in February to increase awareness and
understanding of the crisis and present solutions to the crisis that will revolutionize orphan care.

Synergize 2024: Global Pastors and Leaders Conference
Alice Sweet, HOHI founder and CEO, will take the organization’s message on the orphan care
crisis and present its transformative model of orphan care center stage as she addresses attendees
from 80 countries and over 100 denominations and fellowships during Synergize 2024, a premier
global conference for pastors and leaders. The conference takes place February 14-17 in
Orlando, FL.

Joining Ms. Sweet, members of HOHI team include Dr. John Sweet, Global Orphan Care
Consultant and Executive Director of Heart of Florida Youth Ranch; Angela Bryan, HOHI Child
Sponsorship/Trauma Informed Care Educator; Cathy Trentini De Guevara, HOHI Onsite
Program Director, Refugio de Esperanza, Santa Cruz, Bolivia; and valued supporters Paula
Phillips and Vic Wiggins. Together, they will not only raise awareness of the pressing global
orphan crisis but also unveil innovative and sustainable programs at HOHI’s exhibit table and
leadership gatherings during the conference.

In addition to Ms. Sweet’s onstage presentation, HOHI’s message will be highly visible during
the conference days, carried on conference lanyards, tote bags, and Synergies’ conference
television station and website.

Men & Women of Action: International Rally & Reunion 2024
HOHI leadership will attend the Men and Women of Action (MWOA) International Rally and
Reunion, scheduled from February 22nd to 24th, 2024, in Kodak, Tennessee. MWOA, a pivotal
partner of HOHI, facilitates opportunities for volunteers to participate in various global
initiatives, including building projects, disaster relief, humanitarian efforts, celebration teams,
and discipleship training.

States HOIH leader Alice Sweet, “We deeply appreciate MWOA’s ongoing support. Each year
we identify and present crucial project requirements for our partner homes spanning Bolivia,
Peru, Trinidad, Kenya, and Tanzania.”

During 2023, MWOA teams embarked on transformative missions across the globe, their efforts
leaving lasting impacts. In Trinidad, a team from South Carolina revamped five modest homes at
Operation Smile, providing shelter for numerous orphans. In Peru, a group from Pennsylvania
not only enhanced living spaces at Refuge of Life but also erected a Hope Center above the
cafeteria, a sanctuary for counseling and therapy. Over in Bolivia, MWOA teams installed a
cutting-edge water filtration system at Refugio de Esperanza, promising significant annual
savings.

This year, Ms. Sweet will introduce several projects for consideration and funding by MWOA
teams:
● Two well projects: one for Matonyok Children’s Home in Tanzania and another for Watu
Wa Maana Children Center in Kenya
● Dream Center for Operation Smile in Trinidad
● Hydroponics project for Operation Smile in Trinidad
● Clean water project for Refugio de Esperanza in Bolivia
● Small caregivers’ residence on the Refugio de Esperanza, Bolivia Campus

The relationship between MWOA and HOHI dates back two decades when Pastor David
Pleasant, City Gate Ministries on Jackson Street, Fort Myers, chose an MWOA project in 2003.
The project was to build an orphanage in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Through City Gate’s ongoing
support, Refugio de Esperanza serves as HOHI’s flagship care model, providing exemplary care
to over 350 children. Pastor David Pleasant serves on the HOHI Advisory Board and continues
to support HOHI’s efforts to set a new standard in orphan care.

Today, HOHI is revolutionizing orphan care through partnerships, innovation, and
dedicated leadership. Committed to raising awareness and providing solutions, the organization is ensuring orphans
receive the love, care, and opportunities they deserve. HOHI invites all to join them in building a
brighter future for orphaned children worldwide. To learn more about HOHI’s programs or
