Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Naples rolls out ‘Best Buds’ series, movie parties and family-friendly fun for April
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Naples is turning up the good vibes this April with a lineup of cult classics, interactive movie parties and its featured “Best Buds” series — a playful, 4/20-inspired celebration of offbeat, irreverent and unforgettable films.
Designed as a monthlong ode to laid-back moviegoing and unconventional storytelling, the “Best Buds” series brings together a mix of animated favorites, cult comedies and art-house standouts.
The series kicks off with THE BEST OF BETTY BOOP VOL. 1 on April 6, presented in partnership with Fleischer Studios, before rolling into a lineup of films known for their wit, edge and cult followings.
Film highlights include GHOST WORLD on April 10, directed by Terry Zwigoff, and SOMETHING WILD from Jonathan Demme on April 11, both known for their sharp humor and unconventional storytelling. Audiences can also revisit THE MASTER on April 18, the visually striking drama from Oscar-winning director Paul Thomas Anderson.
At the heart of the “Best Buds” programming is the ultimate 4/20 celebration: THE BIG LEBOWSKI movie party. Featuring a live host, interactive props and White Russians served directly to guests’ seats, the immersive event invites fans to fully embrace the film’s cult legacy.
The series wraps with CÉLINE AND JULIE GO BOATING on April 27, presented as part of the theater’s Queer Film Theory 101 programming.
Balancing the lineup, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Naples will host a Family Party screening of SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE on April 4.
A sequel to THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE, the film follows Mario as he ventures into space, exploring cosmic worlds beyond the Mushroom Kingdom. The interactive screening includes a live host, themed props like squishy stars and glow straws, plus a take-home mask and coloring activity for kids. Guests who arrive early can participate in a pre-show challenge for a chance to win a Yoshi Popcorn Bucket.
An exclusive Mario-themed menu will be available during all SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE screenings through April 20, featuring a loaded mushroom pizza, the Hungry Luma Shake, and themed mocktails and cocktails.
Additional Movie Party events round out the month. On April 13, guests can step into the world of PRIDE & PREJUDICE (2005) with a themed movie party complete with curated props such as lotion, postcards, a potato keychain and handkerchiefs – perfect for swooning over Mr. Darcy in style.
On April 19, Alamo Drafthouse is celebrating the 15th anniversary of all-female comedy BRIDESMAIDS. Get ready to have a good laugh as you enjoy themed props such as lemon straw toppers, “Help Me, I’m Poor” sunglasses and Stove steward bags.
Then on April 25, the MISS CONGENIALITY movie party brings a high-energy, feel-good atmosphere with glow accessories, self-defense keychains and crowns for contest winners, making it an ideal spring date night experience, when it’s not too hot, and not too cold.
Throughout April, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Naples continues its signature approach of blending film, food and interactive entertainment, inviting guests to go beyond the traditional moviegoing experience.
