The AFCAAM (AFrican American CArribean AMerican) Center has been providing after school and out of school programming to the Dunbar Community of Fort Myers, Florida for over 20 years. The program tuition for after school programming is $10 weekly and summer camp tuition is $50 for the entire summer. The program partners with Lee County Public School’s Basic Tutoring program and utilizes the Renaissance Program to ensure children are receiving needed supports to be successful in school. Only 9% of the families in the Dunbar Community have a college degree and the median income is just above $60,000, but according to the living wage calculation for the area is $84,600. The AFCAAM Center’s mission is to partner with families to ensure every child receives a solid academic foundation that will allow them to become competent and fully contributing individuals in a multicultural society, while promoting good sportsmanship and developing good character. |

Founded in 1981, the mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida (CAC) is to provide a coordinated response to child victims of abuse and neglect; and improve the lives of at-risk children and their families through prevention services. At CAC, we assess and treat children believed to have been physically or sexually abused or to be at-risk of such abuse, and a provide a safe place for them to come and be heard. Collier Resource Center was started to fill an unmet community need. The organization’s mission is to empower the people of Collier County through information, referrals, advocacy and case management. All services are free and confidential. Our employee speaks English and Spanish fluently. We offer a “high touch” experience for our clients who may not have computers, smart phones, or the visual acuity and manual dexterity to use keyboards and small screens. Our team of 15 well trained volunteers work in tandem with our program coordinator. All clients receive a follow up call to determine their satisfaction with our services and with the agencies/organization where they were referred. Our database is HIPPA compliant. Our goal is to reach more people who need assistance navigating the maze of health and human service organizations.
