Avow receives a $20,000 grant from Moorings Park Foundation to support bereavement programming
Avow has received a $20,000 grant from Moorings Park Foundation to support its adult bereavement program, which is open to all residents and visitors in Southwest Florida without cost.
“As a nonprofit hospice organization, we recognize the need to provide bereavement support for anyone in in our community,” said Jaysen Roa, president and CEO of Avow companies. “Avow has cared for Collier County’s terminally ill residents and supported their loved ones with bereavement services for 40 years, and we are able to do so with the support of the community and organizations like the Moorings Park Foundation.”
In 2021, the cost to offer bereavement services was $355,800 and served 930 individual virtual and in-person adult sessions, 7,408 phone check-ins to those grieving, 865 bereavement support groups, 4,385 bereavement group participants and 1,469 unique individuals.
Support sessions for adults are available online and/or in-person at the Center for Grief Support on the Avow campus. All sessions are open to residents and visitors in Southwest Florida without cost. Monthly memorials are held virtually for remembrance. Groups are available for people who have suffered a similar loss or within a similar timeframe, such new widows/widowers, survivors of suicide or adults who have lost a parent. Avow also offers groups focused on the needs of caregivers, self-care such as spiritual health, chair yoga and other support groups fostering wellbeing and overall emotional health improvement.
