At the June 2021 VFW Auxiliary State Convention in Orlando, local member Betty A. Bailey was presented a Historian Media award by the Department of Florida Auxiliary for her contribution to the Naples VFW Auxiliary Post 7721.
A second award presented to Ms. Bailey was from the VFW Auxiliary National Convention, which was held in Kansas City, Mo. She earned the award for the most outstanding Historian and Media Relations Report for the National VFW Auxiliary for the Southern Conference Region. This is the first time Post 7721 has received both State and National awards. Auxiliary State President, Debbie Tilley, had the honor of presenting the National award to Ms. Bailey.
Ms. Bailey earned the awards by her work and efforts in creating monthly newsletters, preparing chapter collateral materials, Facebook and other social media awareness, along with public relations and information sent to local media. A special video recapping the entire year was also created using photographs from various events which the Auxiliary participated in and shared with local and State VFW memberships.
The VFW Auxiliary was established in 1914, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Auxiliary set out to serve the veterans of this country and our communities in honor of the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform. The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest veterans’ service organizations and our members are the relatives of those who served in a location of foreign conflict.
“Through our national programs, we assist the VFW pass or block legislation that impacts veterans and their families,” said Bailey. “We also provide nearly a million volunteer hours in the VA medical system, conduct patriotic programs with thousands of students and offer hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships for our nation’s youth.”
