Bishop Verot Names John Gulley Athletic Director
Bishop Verot Catholic High School is pleased to announce John Gulley has been appointed its new Director of Athletics, effective July 1, 2014. Gulley has served as Principal of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School in Palm Coast, Florida for the past three years.
Gulley began his career at his alma mater, St. John Neumann Catholic High School in Naples. During his eight years at that school, he served in various positions including teacher, Dean of Administration and Assistant Athletic Director. He also coached the football, baseball and girls’ basketball programs.
Bishop Verot Principal Denny Denison said, “Mr. Gulley possesses the skills necessary to continue to move our athletic program to our high standard, which is built on molding our student-athletes to be active parishioners and successful citizens in their communities.”
Gulley expressed excitement and a strong sense of purpose in taking the job. He said, “I feel blessed to be a part of a community with a strong Catholic identity and look forward to building on an athletic program that exemplifies excellence in sportsmanship and developing student-athletes.”
Gulley is a Naples native and a veteran of the United States Army. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2007 in history from Florida Gulf Coast University and his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Notre Dame in 2011.
