Charity for Change receives grant from State Farm for expanded social-emotional learning curriculum

Charity for Change has received a $1,500 grant from State Farm to add curriculum content and videos for its evidence-based Charity for Change Program, which successfully addresses developmental outcomes: social-emotional learning (SEL), academic achievement; and civic/cultural development in participating schools.

“The Charity for Change educational program is an essential part of providing a bright future for our future generations,” said Jose Soto, corporate responsibility analyst for State Farm. “We are proud to invest in the future by giving children a foundation for mental wellness and academic success.”

Naples-based educational nonprofit Charity for Change recently enhanced its school programs with a new online platform and additional social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum, which grew by 400% to address the mental wellness challenges during the pandemic and the aftermath.

The enhanced program includes scientifically proven methods of teaching SEL, including four teaching modalities. The proprietary curriculum seamlessly blends character education, charitable involvement and giving, with standards-based math and language arts in a cooperative learning environment.

“We are honored that State Farm has chosen to support our curriculum,” said Karen Conley, founder and CEO of Charity for Change. “We applaud the State Farm community-minded spirit.”

Since 2008, 80,000 pre-K through 5th grade children have participated in the daily learning program. In addition, more than 100 collaborating charity partners have received more than $140,000 raised by Charity for Change participants.
