FPRA Southwest Florida Chapter to present “Student Internships: the Good, the Bad, and the Reality”
The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Southwest Florida Chapter will present a workshop, “Student Internships: the Good, the Bad and the Reality,” on Tuesday, March 3, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Six Bends Harley Davidson in Fort Myers.
The program will help attendees overcome the myths and pave the way for successful intern experiences. Internships are not only an excellent path for students to obtain workplace skills, they are a preferred strategy for employers to identify high performers for future employment. Notwithstanding the benefits, there are misunderstandings about the proper role of interns in an organization and the legalities of bringing them on.
The program is a panel discussion featuring Pam Nulman, APR, CPRC, who teaches public relations at FGCU. Also on the panel are Labor Attorney Christina Harris Schwinn of Pavese Law Firm and Ellen Schiffer, FGCU Communication/Public Relations student, currently an intern with Miromar Development.
The cost for attending the workshop is $25 for members, $30 for non-members and $15 for students. It will take place in the Triple Tree Room at Six Bends Harley Davidson, 9501 Thunder Road, Fort Myers. Guests must RSVP online at www.fpraswfl.org.
