Guardian ad Litem Foundation welcomes seven new board members

The Guardian ad Litem Foundation, 20th Judicial Circuit, has sworn seven new members onto its board of directors, which is responsible for program oversight, fundraising, event coordination and public awareness campaigns.
The Guardian ad Litem Foundation recruits, trains and supports volunteer child advocates who serve as the voice for abused, neglected and abandoned youth in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties as they navigate the judicial, education and child welfare systems. The foundation also provides financial assistance to help meet a child’s basic and developmental needs, including the Children’s Needs Program that provides “extras” like birthday parties, tutoring, summer camp programs, movie tickets and registration fees for clubs and sports.
Board members represent all five counties and have experience in finance, fundraising, law, health care, psychology, real estate, event management, information technology and other fields.
The seven new board members include: Eric Bivens, Cape Coral; Cathy Corey, Cape Coral; Marianne Piccirilli Lentini, Naples; Aliza Recher, Naples; Melissa Grege Schiffman, Naples; Alison Campbell Stone, Fort Myers; and Carl Wolaver, Punta Gorda. Corey, Lentini, Recher and Schiffman are active volunteer child advocates with Guardian ad Litem.
“The fact that we added seven new board members during a pandemic is indicative of the traction our organization is gaining across Southwest Florida,” said Executive Director Jessica Stanfield. “We want every child’s voice to be heard, and the foundation plays a significant role in ensuring that children living in foster homes or temporary shelters have someone advocating for their best interests.”
