Help a Diabetic Child Foundation to hold Inaugural Golf Scramble Fundraiser on November 8th
Help a Diabetic Child (HADC) is excited to announce their Inaugural Golf Scramble Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, November 8 at Old Corkscrew Golf Club. The event is being held to raise funds to help local families afford medical care and insulin for their children who have diabetes.
“We want to do all we can to help families in need,” said Tami Balavage, HADC Founder and President. “The golf tournament is a way to have a fundraiser that is outside and safe for participants, and we really hope to raise the money needed to provide support services so that children have their life saving medical supplies and insulin.”
Many families are struggling financially, and the need is even greater now with higher unemployment due to COVID. With the average annual cost of diabetes-related medical expenses being $9,601 – more than $800 per month, families who are struggling cannot afford regular wellness care and treatment which may cause devastating physical and emotional impacts that can last a lifetime.
HADC is asking the community for support as players and sponsors are needed to make the event a success. Sponsorships are available for $2,500, $1,000, and $500, and for participants, early birdie registration is available for $500 for a foursome (4 golfers), and $125 for a single participation (1 golfer) – dinner will be included for all participants. There will also be a $10,000 prize for a ‘Hole in One’ which is being presented by The Olde Naples Insurance Company. Registration is being completely handled online through Glide Golf at www.GlideGolf.com or through the Glide Golf app which is available online. There will be no walk-in registrations, no cash or checks will be accepted, and registration must do done at least 48 hours prior to the tournament.
Help a Diabetic Child was founded with a belief that all people diagnosed with diabetes deserve the medical supplies and insulin they need to manage their diabetes. The organization has purchased hundreds of thousands of glucose test strips, lancets, meters, syringes, pen needles, and other diabetes supplies along with tens of thousands of units of insulin and glucagon pens for over 1,300 children and young adults in need. However, HADC does much more than purchasing the essential testing and treatment supplies and services for hundreds of children and students each year.
