Literacy Council Gulf Coast seeks community support ahead of March fundraiser
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2026) — Literacy Council Gulf Coast (LCGC) will host its annual fundraiser, “Brunch & Bubbles” at noon, on Sunday, March 1, at Spanish Wells Country Club, 9801 Treasure Cay Lane, Bonita Springs. The event will spotlight LCGC’s efforts to strengthen literacy in the community while recognizing the dedicated tutors and students who support and benefit from its programs.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet Ed DeJesus, author of “The Vulnerable,” and Fort Myers–based, multi-award-winning writer who incorporates familiar local landmarks into his storytelling. Wendy Fullerton Powell, vice president and Florida region editor for the USA TODAY Network and executive editor of the Naples Daily News, will serve as master of ceremonies. Shannon Livingston will serve as auctioneer, leading guests through an exciting live auction and paddle raise.
“Every day, families in our community work hard to provide for their loved ones. But many face a barrier most of us take for granted, the ability to read,” said Executive Director Leah Mason. “When children grow up with books in their hands and role models who encourage them, their stories are filled with possibility.”
Funds raised will benefit the many programs that strengthen literacy and language skills while preparing preschool-age children for success in school. The event will also feature raffle prizes, silent auction, opportunities to learn about the LCGC’s programs and impact and the presentation of the Volunteer of the Year award. Event tickets are $175 or $1,500 for a table of 10 and include complimentary valet service, bottomless mimosa and a cash bar.
Sponsorship opportunities remain available for the event. For more information, email Leah@literacygulfcoast.org or call 239-676-5202.
