Naples Green Village: New assisted living facility promotes health advantages of outdoor green spaces

Living a healthy life and staying active does not end when a person enters an assisted living facility, nor should it according to Naples Green Village.

The newly remodeled assisted living and memory care facility in North Naples was purchased at the end of 2018 with complete renovations beginning in April 2020 and ending in November. The result has had a dramatic change in the appearance and overall feel as the marble floored entryway welcomes guests and residents into an open and airy space with direct views to the first outdoor courtyard. Off the entry is a beautifully appointed dining room with classical crown moldings and columns that defines an elegant space which is appointed with artwork from the masters plus, a white baby grand piano.

The social gathering area is also impressive and visible when entering the facility and has the look and feel of an upscale residence decorated in coastal tones. Music plays in the background giving one a pleasant feeling while dining or visiting. The residences include newly renovated studio rooms with kitchenettes, sitting areas and beautiful views of the new courtyards.

The green spaces and courtyards really set the facility apart from others in the area as there are five outdoors spaces in total. The three interior courtyards that existed were completely redesigned and relandscaped to give a feeling of serenity and peace. Then, there are two large new courtyards on the exterior of the facility that have been created to include walkways for daily walks, park benches for sitting, shade trees and flowers for enjoyment, and a gazebo for gathering. A 8-foot privacy wall surrounds the entire outdoor area providing security, peace and quiet.

New owners of the facility, RAM Capital Management of Coral Gables, Florida, are dedicated to the Green Village brand which has evolved into a wholistic care philosophy greatly emphasizing daily exposure to pleasant and stimulating outdoor environments. The intimate park-like areas of the facility are intended to entice residents to the outdoors where they can enjoy and experience magnificent oak trees and pleasantly meandering pathways. Research shows that sunlight, fresh air, and friendly surroundings promote well-being, both physical and mental. The target for RAM is to own ten to twelve Green Village facilities in Florida by the end of 2023.

Activities for residents of the facility include everything from gardening, woodworking, exercise to happy hours in the newly remodeled Bistro Café. Naples Green Village’s goal is to create a state-of-the-art facility for up to 73 residents while keeping an intimate and inviting atmosphere at a mid-range price point. According to the new owners, their efforts have paid off as the renovations have resulted in a very elegant, airy, yet comfortable and homey environment that lends itself to socializing and a happy healthy life.

Naples Green Village is an all-inclusive facility with a compassionate staff that understands the unique obstacles that our seniors face. A quarantined wing of rooms has been established with separate staff entrance in case of a medical emergency. Since July, Naples Green Village has not had one case of Covid 19 due to strict protocols and procedures.

“From the minute a resident steps into our community, our goal is to make them feel safe, secure, and at home,” says Manuel E. Borrajo, one of the three partners at RAM Capital Management. “Our dedicated caregivers and our amenities are designed specifically for those who have specific needs. The way we see it, our role isn’t limited to helping our residents perform tasks – it’s way greater than that. It’s about an abundant life, a happy life and a healthy life.”
