The Autumn Classic Golf Tournament at The Club at Renaissance raises nearly $75,000 for Golisano Children’s Hospital
Over 100 guests took part in the Oct. 26 inaugural “Autumn Classic” golf tournament and dinner auction held at The Club at Renaissance Golf & Country Club in Fort Myers. A new event for Lee Health Foundation, the tournament brought in nearly $75,000, raising awareness and funds for expanded pediatric neurosurgery programs at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
The medical expansion will serve children from Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties with diseases and injuries of the brain, spine and nerves. With the additional services, Golisano Children’s Hospital, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, seeks to keep children close to home, reducing stress and financial strain on patients and their families.
“We have received wonderful support for many years from The Club at Renaissance,” said Lee Health Foundation Senior Director Katy Martinez. “Their premium golf course was a perfect setting for this new fall event. We are incredibly grateful to all the golfers, dinner guests, sponsors and auction donors for helping us continue to keep Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida kids and their families close to home while receiving world class medical care.”
Signature sponsors of the Classic were 17-year Major League Baseball pitcher and 2004 Boston Red Sox World Champion Derek Lowe and his wife Carolyn, and Manhattan Construction of Naples. Jaguar LandRover of Fort Myers served as the tournament’s exclusive auto sponsor and hole-in-one prize.
Auction items included an exclusive opportunity to attend Tim McGraw’s World Tour in Nashville, TN, a Christmas Eve visit by Santa Claus, a luxury trip to Bermuda and many local getaways, private golf club foursomes and premium restaurant packages. Travis Mathew was the golfer gift sponsor as well as a donor to two silent auction packages.
