VFW Auxiliary Announces Betty A. Bailey as Buddy Poppy Chair

The Department of Florida Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary 7721 is pleased to announce the appointment of Betty A. Bailey as the Buddy® Poppy/National Home Chairman for the State of Florida Auxiliary.
Ms. Bailey has been a member of the Auxiliary since 2018 and serves as Secretary and Historian/Media Chairperson for Post 7721.
The VFW Buddy® Poppy program provides compensation to the veterans who assemble the poppies, supports local veterans, provides financial assistance in maintaining state and national veterans’ rehabilitation and service programs, and partially supports the VFW National Home For Children located in Elgin, Michigan, which provides housing for Veterans and/or their families.
“The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those buddies who served and died for our country in all wars,” says Ms. Bailey. “It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms. Wear a poppy to honor those who have worn our nation’s uniform.”
Buddy® Poppies are distributed during year by volunteers on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Veterans Day at various locations in Collier County. Additionally, poppies are given at events supported by the VFW and any donations from these events support the VFW Auxiliary Relief Fund.
“Through our national programs, we assist the VFW by raising funds on Memorial Day, Veterans Day and other VFW events,” adds Ms. Bailey. “We also provide nearly a million volunteer hours per year in the Veterans Administration (VA) medical system as well as conduct patriotic programs with thousands of students and offer hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships for our nation’s youth.”
