Association for Talent Development hosting webinar on leveraging learning sciences to create training that sticks

Creating a training process that is fast, yet still has enough ‘stickiness’ for trainees to retain the information, is an ongoing challenge for talent developers. This challenge will be the topic of November’s Association for Talent Development (ATD) Southwest Florida Chapter webinar on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from noon to 1:00 p.m.

While technology helps make training more visually engaging and entertaining, the key to creating true ‘stickiness’ is based in the learning sciences. Understanding the core components of learning sciences helps professionals connect learners to content and achieve greater retention.

At this month’s webinar, Lisa M.D. Owens, co-author of the book “Designing for Modern Learning,” will speak on leveraging the learning sciences and will explore the Ages Model, which is used to design learning that sticks. This session is linked to the ATD Capability Model for Developing Professional Capabilities.

In this one-hour webinar, participants will:

● learn the meaning of learning sciences,

● apply the Ages Model for learning sciences as a holistic model to inform their own content design and development, and

● identify the barriers to learning and best practices for learning retention.

Registration for this online program is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Members are allowed one guest for free. Students are $10. Participants may register online at www.atdswfl.org by Tuesday, November 17. This session is eligible for 1 ATD Educational Credit.
