Janina Myronova’s unique ceramics will now be represented by KAJ Gallery
KAJ Gallery is now representing ceramics created by internationally recognized artist Janina Myronova. Her works will be featured along with other world-renowned contemporary ceramicists in an upcoming book created by KAJ Gallery’s co-owner Kosmas Ballis. The book is due to be released in early 2020.
In 2018, Myronova was selected for the residency at the New Taipei Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan and Clayarch Gimhae Ceramics Museum in South Korea.
Myronova was born in Donetsk, Ukraine, and is a graduate of the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art in Wrocław and the Lviv National Academy of Arts.
“Her characters display a specific, distorted body perspective, a ‘crookedness’ constituting the Janinaesque appearance,” says Kosmas Ballis, co-owner of KAJ Gallery. “Each sculpture has a different personality, a personal story, a graphic ‘novel’ featuring different motifs.”
She has participated in over a hundred collective exhibitions and 12 solo shows. Her awards include: First Prize in the 7th Biennal Internacional de Ceramica de Marratxi, Spain in 2018; First Prize in the “Those to Come” category of the 5th “Ceramica Multiplex” International Competition at Varazdin Municipal Museum, Croatia in 2016; First Degree Award of the Mayor of Kielce for achievements in artistic work, popularization and protection of culture in 2015.
KAJ Gallery is currently featuring works by ceramicist Chris Gustin, two-dimensional painter Paul Tamanian, sculptor Mark Dickson, and ceramicist Karen Shapiro.
