Miracles in Action launches fair trade BEYOND BEADS shopping site

Miracles in Action has launched their beyond fair trade Beyond Beads shopping site just in time for holiday shopping. The robust online experience makes it easy for people to browse and shop while supporting a worthy cause – women artisans in remote Mayan villages of Guatemala.

Miracles in Action, a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization, was founded in 2004 as a response to the extreme poverty in Guatemala witnessed by its’ founders, Penny Rambacher and her mother, Noreen Rambacher. Since that time, this charitable organization has grown into a dedicated network of volunteers and supporters who further the organization’s mission to help poor families help themselves through sustainable projects that improve education, nutrition, vocational skills, and create jobs. Over the past 15 years, Miracles in Action has built 57 schools in remote Guatemalan villages; provided clean water systems; funded family gardens; and provided women empowerment workshops.

Today, the non-profit organization focuses on supporting Guatemalan artisan women to operate their own home-based business earning a fair income. In turn this builds their self-esteem and brings them financial independence and eliminates the need to seek work in the US.

Since the pandemic, Miracles in Action has not been able to take part in local farmer’s markets, art shows and special events to sell Beyond Beads artisan jewelry. The loss of these venues has meant the loss of income for the artisans. In response, the organization pivoted by updating their Beyond Beads website making items accessible online for both retail and wholesale customers.

“The more we sell, the more the artisans can continue to earn income to feed their family,” says Penny Rambacher. “We’re really excited to have this new online store where people can purchase beautiful beads made by Guatemalan mothers and at the same time one can purchase products with a real purpose in mind.”

The site is easy to navigate and has a selection of fashionable, one of a kind hand beaded jewelry from earrings, bracelets, necklaces to face mask lanyards and more. Shoppers will be notified via email when the order is placed and when it is shipped. To shop, visit www.BeyondBeads.org.

In addition to Beyond Beads, Miracles in Action has its own charity website where donations for a variety of projects such as water filters, solar lamps, school supplies and safe vented stoves, can be made. You can even buy a cornfield that feeds 10 families for one year for only $100!
